Engine sensors
P0325 — Knock Sensor 1 Circuit (Bank 1 or Single Sensor)
The knock sensor signal is missing or outside the normal range. The ECU cannot detect detonation properly, so it may retard ignition timing to protect the engine.
Common causes
- Faulty knock sensor
- Damaged wiring or connector
- Loose sensor mounting or corrosion
- Engine mechanical noise (loose parts)
- Engine control module fault (rare)
Symptoms
- Reduced power and fuel economy
- Possible pinging under load
- Check engine light
- Often no other symptom
How to check
- Inspect the knock sensor connector and wiring
- Check the sensor mounting torque and condition
- Measure the sensor resistance or signal with a scope while tapping near it
- Replace the sensor if the circuit is good
Can you keep driving?
Usually drivable, but the ECU may retard timing and reduce performance. Use good-quality fuel and repair soon.

Frequently asked questions
- What does P0325 mean?
- The knock sensor signal is missing or out of range.
- Can I drive with P0325?
- Usually yes, but without knock protection the ECU lowers performance and detonation may go unnoticed.
